STUDENT MINISTRY

SUNDAY Evening: 5:30 PM-7:00 PM

Overview

As the youth ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, we will teach students that life is about Christ. We desire to see students come to salvation and to know Jesus Christ. We seek to develop them to glorify Him, treasure Him, and obey Him. This will be done through preaching, small groups, and intentional discipleship. We seek to walk with students as they prepare for adulthood, develop spiritual convictions, and learn to understand, apply, and treasure God’s word.

Mission

To develop the future leaders for Christ of Fulton, NY, and the greater area as true disciples of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. To build in each student a personal relationship with Christ and build in each student a commitment to the Bible and a Biblical worldview. Allow each student to glorify God in the way He has gifted each of them.

Values

Glorify- "For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?" For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. -Romans 11:34-36 ESV

“Man’s chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.”

-Westminster Confession of Faith

Reach- Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. - Matthew 28:19-20 ESV

“The one indispensable requirement for producing godly mature Christians is godly, mature Christians.”

-Kevin DeYoung

Adhere- And by this, we know that we have come to know him if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, -1 John 2:3-4

“What does it mean to believe in Christ? It means more than accepting and affirming the truth of who He is – God in human flesh – and believing what He says. Real faith results in obedience… True faith is never seen as passive – it is always obedient.”

-John Macarthur

Develop- Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. -Hebrews 13:7

“Spiritual leadership is knowing where God wants people to be and taking the initiative to get them there by God’s means in reliance on God’s power.”

-John Piper

Serve- And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. -Luke 10:27

“What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like.”

-Augustine
